Blake Shelton, to no one’s surprise, completely owned the 2016 CMT Music Awards tonight, June 8. Read more to relive his rendition of “Doing It to Country Songs” — featuring The Oak Ridge Boys — off Blake’s latest album, If I’m Honest. They also snuck in a verse of “Elvira”, making it one of the best performances of the evening!
We’d been anticipating Blake’s performance since the show began, and The Voice judge totally delivered. Blake charmed the crowd with his butter-smooth voice, looking casual cool in a denim jacket and jeans. The Oak Ride Boys sounded great as they harmonized with the country star, though they let him have his moment! Blake and the Boys then transitioned into a rousing rendition of “Elvira”, bringing the crowd to its feet — Carrie Underwood was spotted in the audience, dancing along and mouthing the words!
Blake is having one hell of a year. With a bestselling album and stellar Voice hosting gig under his belt, Blake is on a whirlwind tour for his album. Don’t worry, though — he’s finding the time to enjoy his steamy romance with Gwen Stefani. As we previously told you, the couple is reportedly gearing up for a lifelong commitment: “Gwen and Blake talk openly about their future together,” Us Weekly reports. “They say things like, ‘When we get married…’ all the time.” Blake’s tour wraps up in mid-October, so he might pop the question shortly after things settle down!
