The cast and crew of Game Of Thrones have responded to the show’s huge haul of Emmy nominations this year.

The nominations for the TV’s most prestigious awards were announced yesterday afternoon (July 14) and the HBO show found itself shortlisted 23 times – more than any other show. Once again, it was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, an award which it won last year.

Maisie Williams, Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke will compete against one another for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series prize. Williams, who plays Arya Stark, responded excitedly on Twitter.

jus on ft with me mam and twitter pops up telling me i’ve been nominated for an emmy. Wtfahhahhaahhelpme— Maisie Williams (@Maisie_Williams) July 14, 2016

Meanwhile, Cersei Lannister actress Headey told Entertainment Weekly that she was “totally overwhelmed,” adding: “Thrilled for the show receiving so many nominations … Wahoo!”

Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington were both nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series prize. Harington, who plays Jon Snow, told EW: “It is a serious understatement to say that I am somewhat stunned. For my work on Game Of Thrones to be recognised in this way is an emotional moment for me. I could not be more humbled.”

Veteran actor Max von Sydow also received an Emmy nomination in the Oustanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series prize for his performance as the Three-eyed raven.

This year’s Emmy winners will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on September 18. Game Of Thrones took home 12 prizes last year – more than any other show has collected in a single year.
