In episode two, The Young Pope seemed to be righting the ship from the first episode with its opening of a dead (possibly sleeping) CGI baby pyramid. In episode three, that doesn’t change. Things don’t become normal, but they stay in line with the show’s usual brand of weirdness. A rather significant misstep is made in episode three, though. After a couple episodes with a character who straddles the line between interesting enigma and a charismatic antihero, Lenny becomes intensely unlikable and borderline unbearable. The young pope might turn out to be the worst part of The Young Pope.
