USA had one of the most dependable comedies on television with Psych. The dramedy brought together a great cast with a fun premise to get in and out of trouble as they solved mysteries. Stars Dule Hill and James Roday played best friends Gus and Shawn, and they kept the show from getting stale for the better part of a decade until the series came to an end after Season 8 back in 2014. Now, Dule Hill has weighed in on whether we can expect Psych tor return to the small screen, saying this:

Oh, I think there’s definitely something coming. I would hope so. I love the whole Psych world. Roday is my buddy. I love him dearly and we have a great time working together, so I’m hoping that Steve Franks and the whole USA team will come together and make something happen. Hold on, Psychos, hold on.

Television nowadays is filled with all manner of reboots and revivals, so the time couldn’t be more perfect for the Psych crew to reunite. A lot of stars may need to align to bring the cast, creator Steve Franks, and the USA network back together, but even just one more mystery would be a great gift to fans. Dule Hill’s tease to TVGuide at the TCA press tour indicates that he at least would be on board to return to the Psych universe, and that’s a good sign for a possible reunion.

Of course, Dule Hill is only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to the perfect Psych reunion, and he’s starring in the upcoming CBS drama Doubt. James Roday is essential, and any kind of reunion just wouldn’t feel right if Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson couldn’t make it. I know I’d be bummed if the team couldn’t find a way to work in Corbin Bernsen as Shawn’s dad. The entire cast found the right balance between drama and humor to instill a real sense of heart to the series, and it’s hard to imagine any version of the show with any of them absent.

Unfortunately, Dule Hill didn’t get into any details about what kind of Psych reunion he thinks is coming. The show could go a few different ways for a reunion. Psych could go the way of The X-Files and produce a new batch of episodes and call it an extra season, or it could use the Gilmore Girls mini-movies model to check in on the characters’ lives as they’ve gone since the series finale. A sequel of sorts a la Fuller House isn’t unimaginable. Who knows? Maybe even a Prison Break-style return could work.

It’s still too early to start counting on a Psych return, but at least we have a solid reason to hope. You can catch Dule Hill’s new drama Doubt, also starring Katherine Heigl, on Wednesday, February 15, at 10:00 p.m. ET. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for the latest in TV news, and take a look at our breakdown of some of the biggest remakes and revivals that are currently in the works.
