Ever wanted to visit Gotham City? You know, that place known for being crime infested but also patroled by a vigilante in a bat costume? Sure, it’s sometimes depicted as having extraordinarily artistic architecture, yet it’s also always dark and dirty. Well, you can soon take a trip to an actual Gotham City within a future amusement park called Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.
That’s right, it’s in the Middle East, and the park will also include many other fictional places from Warner Bros. movies, including another DC locale, Metropolis. That’d be the cleaner, more wholesome of the two and the one hosting a Hall of Justice. See that and a rendering of Gotham City in the concept art below (via THR).
Besides DC comic book movie lands, the other big draw seems to be animation-based sections of the park. Looney Tunes, of course, has a presence with Cartoon Junction and Dynamite Gulch, the latter hosting attractions related to Wile E. Coyote and Marvin the Martian. Here’s concept art for both:
Also Hanna-Barbera properties will be represented. Not only is there a Bedrock, as in the home of the Flintstones (see concept art below), but characters such as Scooby-Doo will be walking around the park, alongside Bugs Bunny and friends.
Where’s Orbit City from The Jetsons, though? Perhaps that can be added later, when they can authentically put it way up in the sky above everything else. The park ought to also eventually add other areas based on such Warner Bros. properties as Mad Max, The Matrix and Inception.
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, which is set to open next year, will also have a plaza named for the studio and inspired by the early days of Hollywood. See what that will look like here:
