Bachelor fans got quite a shock when it was announced that season 19 star Chris Soules was arrested following a deadly car accident. There were very few details immediately following the incident. Now more information has come out and a clearer picture of exactly what went down during the accident has emerged.
According to ET Online the accident occurred at 8:20 pm Monday night near Aurora, Iowa. Soules, who was driving a truck, rear-ended the victim of the crash, Kenneth Mosher, who was in his tractor. Mosher later died at the hospital. According to a resident of the town, Soules knew 66-year-old Mosher but they didn’t “run in the same social circles.”
It might seem odd for some to hear that Mosher was driving a tractor relatively late at night but it was a common occurrence. “They’re out there planting corn. He had a patch of land north of town,” the anonymous local resident explained. “[Kenny] farmed till dark. That’s a regular farm road. It’s not unusual for farmers to be out on the road at 8:00 as it starts getting dark. That’s when [the farmers] go home. They work all day.”
In a later call with the 911 dispatcher and those who were responding the crash site, it is clear that everyone knew Soules was the man who hit Mosher. Authorities knew that Soules had left the scene and were on the lookout for him.
Soules was taken to the hospital to be tested for drugs or alcohol in his system. Apparently, though, the test won’t mean much because it occurred hours after the incident. It is therefore “virtually impossible” for the local authorities to charge Soules with driving under the influence or the Iowan version of Operating While Intoxicated.
