The nonstop Ryan Murphy train at FX continues to grow and grow. The network has officially renewed Feud, Murphy’s latest anthology series, for a second season before season 1 even begins.
The second feud will revolve around Prince Charles and Princess Diana, chronicling the fallout of their royal marriage. Murphy will write the new season along with Jon Robin Baitz, a playwright whose previous credits include Brothers and Sisters and The Slap.
Like Murphy’s previous anthologies, each season of Feud examines a single battle between two notable celebrities. Season 1 centers on the rivalry of two classic film legends: Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, played by Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon.
Feud joins a long list of Murphy’s projects now in development at FX. American Horror Story has been renewed for two more seasons while plans are currently underway for the next three seasons of American Crime Story which will examine the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the death of Gianni Versace and the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Which actors will play Charles and Diana in the new season of Feud? If history is any indication, Murphy will reuse many of his regular actors who appear in his FX anthologies.
Feud season 1 begins Sunday, March 5 at 10/9c on FX.
