With less than two months before the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, we thought we had probably pulled all the news out of that one we were going to get. However, it turns out that isn’t exactly the case. The word is that there’s one last trailer for the new X-Men movie on its way, and it includes footage of a character we haven’t seen in any of the advertising before. This is your last chance to turn away. After the image we’re talking about who we’re reportedly going to see.
According to Heroic Hollywood, a new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse will be shown at CinemaCon this week which will include footage of Hugh Jackman, reprising his role as Wolverine. While Jackman’s appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse had been rumored for some time, this is the closest thing that we’ve seen to confirmation that he’s even in the movie. We would expect that the CinemaCon trailer will find its way online at some point. If it isn’t put up officially, it will likely be leaked, so odds are that the plan is to announce Wolverine officially when the trailer goes up.
There had been some evidence previously that Hugh Jackman would be part of X-Men: Apocalypse. A leather goods manufacturer in New York posted a now deleted image of a bag they said they had made for Jackman to use on the set of Apocalypse. It had also been previously reported that Hugh Jackman was going to be part of reshoots that were done at the end of last year. What’s interesting, is that according to this new report, Jackman wasn’t actually part of the new movie until these reshoots were done. Apparently in the original script Wolverine did not appear, but director Bryan Singer found a way to include the character and Jackman agreed. This would imply that Wolverine’s scenes probably aren’t very extensive, and may be little more than a cameo. While he was by far the focal point of the last X-Men movie, Days of Future Past, his role in the previous film, X-Men: First Class was also of the cameo variety.
If true, then X-Men: Apocalypse will mark the eighth time that Hugh Jackman has dawned the claws of his comic book alter ego. This means that the streak will only continue when Jackman takes the lead of Wolverine 3, which the actor has already announced will be his finale time in the role.
