“I’m a maester, an archmaester. I’m an old professor character,” Broadbent told ScreenCrush‘s Erin Whitney.

According to Broadbent, who has appeared in over 100 films including Moulin Rouge, Bridget Jones and the Harry Potter movies, he shares scenes with Sam Tarly (John Bradley) and appears in five episodes.

“I did sort of one major scene in each episode,” the veteran actor said.

While Broadbent didn’t reveal his character’s name, his role confirmation gives fans enough reason to speculate that he will play Maester Marwyn, a character in the books who meets with Sam and will play a huge impact on the Mother of Dragons.

However, if Broadbent does play Maester Marwyn, it might take some time before his character meets up with Daenerys. Broadbent revealed that he only filmed scenes in the studio in Belfast.

“I didn’t get to go out on location,” he said, adding that he also isn’t involved in any action sequences involving CGI. That means Broadment’s scenes this season will most likely revolve around Sam at the Citadel.
